1st 'Severe' Smog Outbreak Strikes Delhi & NCR; Expected To Last 2 More Days
Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) have been hit by their first "severe" smog outbreak. On November 10, the green think-tank Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) predicted that it would endure another two days. The contribution of smoke peaked on November 7, when it reached 48%, as per reports. This is the second-highest daily contribution percentage recorded since 2018.

NGT Extends Cracker Ban Up To New Year In Cities With Poor AQI
Considering the COVID-19 spread, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has prolonged the prohibition of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR and cities with poor air quality. However, the NGT has allowed the use of green crackers between 11:55 PM-12:30 AM during Christmas and New Year only in areas with moderate or good AQI. The tribunal has also asked the district magistrates in Delhi-NCR to check the sale of firecrackers as per the guidelines.
